The second in the Lethal Weapon films, sees Murtagh and Riggs back together again as partners, this time investigating South Africans. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, one of the best cop buddies are back in a film that takes what the original created and moves it on a bit. From 1989 it is dated by the fact that the drop back to a lot of the action and set up is Apartheid demonstrations and does lead to the funniest scene in the film in the South African Embassy. “Bit you are Bleck!”
I like the series it went on a bit long and have only ever seen the fourth film once, but the first three are actually a really good series and they do what sequels are supposed to do and build on the original and previous films and I think that this series achieves this. The action is a step up, the comedy goes annoying with Joe Pesci but with Joss Ackland playing the main bad guy you have the comedy relief and the evil enough bad guy.
Overall you will know before you watch this if you are going to like It, a buddy cop movie that ticks all the boxes of the late eighties with dark enough deaths, harsh enough violence and just the right level of comedy. In the Cop buddy stakes it is a 9 out of 10, in the realms of movies it hits a respectable 7 out of 10.
Starring Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone as Los Angeles Cops this is a Buddie Cop movie that does not start out in the traditional way. You have Sly Stallone as the distinguished well dressed rich cop that does the job for the love of it and the Kurt Russell character that gets the job done however he has to, even if he is a total slob. With Teri Hatcher as Stallone's sister and Jack Palance as the bad guy that arranges for Tango and Cash to be set up for a murder. You follow the comedy as they have to come to terms with working together to clear their names.
This film comes at the height of the action police comedies from the late 80's and early 90's and stars two of the bigger action stars of the time in Stallone and Russell. They have a really good chemistry with them both showing that they are really good as comic actors with some good timing, Stallone particularly is not thought to highly as a good actor, simply getting by on his bulk and early success with Rocky and Rambo. I have to say that I think in this he pulls off the distinguished officer with a portfolio really well.
This film is fairly generic with little to put it above other cop films but with Russell and Stallone it certainly worth seeing if you enjoy the action comedy films such as Lethal Weapon or Beverley Hills Cop, this is a strong 3 star recommend from me.

Two losers who in the middle of a heat wave try and show their boss that they are really good workers and at the weekend they discover a discrepancy in the books and they take it to Bernie and as a reward he invites them to his island home. The comedy from there ensues as Bernie is defrauding the company and when he tells his boss that someone is on to him, they decide to take care of him. When Larry and Richard, played by Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman arrive at the Island they discover that Bernie is dead but instead of letting it ruin their weekend they pretend he is still alive and from there the comedy commences.
I had heard of this film but never even really seen or heard that much about it before I saw it and I actually really enjoyed it. There is a bit where you have to believe that the main characters can be that stupid and that people would really believe that Bernie is alive when you see him. However it is from the farce school of comedy and actually really works quite well.
Yes there are serious flaws if you are not willing to give them any credit but if you can go with what they are doing with the comedy. If you do not think about it to hard then it really is a fun film and a good 3 star recommend from me to see this film if you get the chance. There is a sequel which appears to be about Voodoo so will probably not be looking that film up.
